The original one used maple and walnut and the pattern was inspired by the racing flag. It was designed to be large so that it would permanently sit on the clients kitchen worksurface. They wanted something that would be long lasting due to the amount of cooking they do (proffesional chef) so Hard Maple was used which will help ensure that this will last the test of time.
