Mondrian Table

"Piets De Resistance"

Mondrian Table

This project was based purely on inspiration and things learnt in the first year of business. The table took elements from previous projects and techniques to create a simple but unique piece of furniture which was designed to celebrate one year of having the workshop in Stockport. It was manufactured out of an old wardrobe which was no longer being used.

The curve on the top was the one used on the chopping boards, with the hand turned leg helping to creat the simple look on the chopping boards, the main leg was taken from the intersecting table as a homage from the first piece of furniture created in the workshop. When the table was created I used a V Cutter on a router to recreate the style on the Walnut HiFi Stand where I emphisied the joints on the surface.

Looking at the top of the table it was reminicisent of the work of Mondrian and I felt it was fitting to use the primary colours to pay homage to great artist, it also helped to match the last project I had done in the front room where the Tv Unit combined a mix of paint and natural wood to create a simple but effective finish.

I finished off the table by adding my disk and branding it with my work logo and gave it a water resistant laquer which would ensure it looked good in all conditions.
